Bathroom mould removal with inspection and report
Extensive mould removal from a bathroom with a popcorn ceiling. Why would they use this type of finish is beyond me. Developed in the 70’s for what reason I don’t know. I needed to use 3 x the chemical and use a different method to apply. In the end was success.
PRE-INSPECTION:
Mould growth to ceiling walls and window surrounds caused by condensation and lack of ventilation. Current exhaust fan is inadequate.
TREATMENT:
Anti-microbial treatment to all affected areas.
OWNER RECOMMENDATIONS:
– Upgrade existing exhaust fan to a model that extracts a min of 450m3 of air per hour.
– Paint ceiling and walls using a mould inhibitor additive or wet area paint. Min two coats.
– Due to the distance from the shower recess to the window exhaust fan which is approx 10 meters, add a outdoor sealed motor fan to push the humid air to the exhaust fan.
– Leave exhaust fan running for additional 20 mins after use particularly during the winter months.
CONCLUSION:
This is a hard fix situation, however if recommendations are followed there should be less chance of condensation and mould growth in the future.
