Mould in your rental home

I have mould in my rental home. What can I do?

Mould in your rental home

Mould and damp caused by structural faults or leaks should be remedied by the owner ASAP.

However, you must ensure that you are not generating too much moisture indoors and that the building is adequately ventilated. The smaller the indoor environment the faster the indoor air quality will change for the good or bad. i.e. small units that have poor ventilation by design are at a higher risk than a 4 x 2 home with good cross ventilation. For more detailed information see post on condensation here

If you have taken measures to ensure the building is properly heated and aired and mould is still growing, you should raise the issue with the owner or property agent.
